Cottonsie has introduced a new diapering solution designed for parents who prioritize sustainability and natural ingredients in their baby care products. Using a revolutionary, patent-pending technology, Cottonsie has created a plant-based diaper that combines the natural fibers and breathability of reusable cloth diapers with the convenience and performance of disposable ones.
The diaper replaces plastic with 100% breathable cotton in key layers, such as the topsheet, backsheet, acquisition distribution layer (ADL), and core wrap. Cotton, a natural fiber, helps maintain a healthier microclimate by reducing the risk of diaper rash. Although synthetic materials are used to enhance performance, the majority of the diaper is plant-based, with 82% biodegrading within 18 months, setting a new standard for sustainability in disposable diapers.
While reusable cloth diapers have long been considered the greener option, they often come with inconveniences and potential skin irritation. Cottonsie’s design addresses these issues by effectively wicking moisture away from the cotton topsheet into the absorbent core, providing dryness comparable to leading national brands made from plastic and synthetic materials. This gives parents the convenience of a disposable diaper with the sustainability of cloth diapers.
Unlike conventional diapers, which are mostly made of plastic, Cottonsie uses 100% natural cotton in almost every area that touches a baby’s skin. “Plastic diapers are clogging our landfills and leaching toxins into the environment,” said Nicole Richards, founder and CEO of Cottonsie. “We created Cottonsie to offer parents a high-performance, comfortable diaper made primarily from natural, biodegradable materials—priced for everyday use.”
