Sulu Organics LLC, based in Bartlett, Illinois, is recalling more than 6,100 pounds (over 3 tons) of beef tallow and pork lard due to concerns that they were produced without federal inspection. The recall affects products produced between December 2024 and March 2025, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced on June 3, 2025.
The FSIS urges consumers who have purchased these products not to consume them. Affected items should be disposed of or returned to the store of purchase.

These products were sold nationwide at retail locations and online. None of the recalled products bear the USDA inspection mark, which is required by law for meat and poultry products.
The issue was uncovered after FSIS received complaints that some of these items sold online lacked the USDA inspection mark. FSIS investigation revealed that Sulu Organics had purchased bulk pork lard and beef tallow from an FSIS-regulated facility and repackaged them into smaller retail containers without proper inspection.
As of now, there have been no reports of adverse health reactions related to these products. However, anyone concerned about possible health effects is advised to consult with a healthcare provider.
