Nutritionist Shares SIMPLE Rule for Healthier Eating Without the Overwhelm

by daisy

If the idea of eating healthy feels overwhelming, you’re not alone. Between packed schedules, confusing diet trends, and the pressure to do it all perfectly, healthy living can seem out of reach. But according to nutritionist Nmami Agarwal, it doesn’t have to be that way.

In a recent Instagram video, Agarwal shared a refreshingly practical approach to nutrition using a simple acronym: SIMPLE. The goal? Make healthy eating easier and more sustainable for everyone.

Here’s what SIMPLE stands for:

S – Seasonal foods: “Nature knows best,” Agarwal says. Eating foods that are in season ensures freshness, better nutrient content, and easier digestion.

I – Include variety: Don’t eat the same vegetable or fruit every day. Different colors and types of food bring different nutrients and support a well-rounded diet.

M – Mind your portions: Avoid overeating by paying attention to portion sizes. Eating too fast or not recognizing fullness can lead to unnecessary calorie intake.

P – Protein in every meal: Protein supports metabolism, muscle maintenance, and helps keep you full. Indian meals often lack adequate protein, Agarwal notes.

L – Less sugar: Watch for added and hidden sugars, especially in processed foods and snacks.

E – Eat when hungry, not bored: Be mindful of why you’re reaching for food. Emotional or boredom eating can disrupt healthy habits.

“These small changes, when done consistently, can lead to sustainable weight loss, more energy, and a better mood,” Agarwal said. “Start with one habit. Then another. Simple habits, big results.”

Her message is clear: you don’t need elaborate meal plans or trendy diets to live healthier. Just keep it SIMPLE.
