A Phenix City man has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for producing and distributing child sexual abuse material.

Corey Joseph Brand, 46, was ordered to serve 360 months in prison, according to Kevin Davidson, acting U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama. After his prison term, Brand will also spend five years on supervised release and must register as a sex offender. Federal sentences do not allow for parole.

According to court records and Brand’s plea agreement, the case began in September 2023. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a tip about child sexual abuse images uploaded online. The images showed a nude young girl and were shared through a social media platform. The account user claimed to be an active-duty soldier based in Georgia.

The tip was passed to the Army Criminal Investigation Division. Investigators identified Brand as the person behind the uploads. They discovered that Brand had used another person’s identity without their knowledge to create the account. Although Brand had served in the Army, he had already been discharged.

Federal agents executed a search warrant at Brand’s home in Phenix City. They examined several electronic devices and found child sexual abuse materials stored on them. They also found evidence that Brand had distributed these images to others. The investigation revealed that Brand had used a minor victim to create some of the illegal material.

In 2024, a federal grand jury in Montgomery indicted Brand on charges of producing and distributing child sexual abuse material. Brand pleaded guilty to these charges on February 7, 2025.

The Army Criminal Investigation Division and the Federal Bureau of Investigation led the investigation. They were assisted by the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia, the Columbus Georgia Police Department, the Phenix City Police Department, the Auburn Police Department in Alabama, and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
