LOS ANGELES — Santa Monica Seafood has issued a voluntary recall of a seafood item sold at Aldi stores due to undeclared soy, a potential health risk for consumers with allergies.
The affected product is Aldi’s Atlantic Salmon Portions with Seafood Stuffing, packaged in 16-ounce containers with a “Use/Freeze By” date of June 2, 2025. The recall applies to products distributed in California, Nevada, and Arizona.
According to the company, the issue was identified during a routine inspection of labeling proofs by the supplier. Soy was found in the product, but the ingredient was not listed on the packaging.
People with a soy allergy or severe sensitivity are at risk of experiencing serious or even life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this item.
Consumers are advised to check their packages for the product date code, located on the white label beneath the product image on the front of the packaging.
So far, no illnesses related to the recalled product have been reported.
Customers who purchased the salmon are urged to return it to the store for a full refund or dispose of it, especially if they are allergic to soy. For questions, contact Santa Monica Seafood at 1-800-969-8862, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PST.
The recall is part of an effort to ensure consumer safety and prevent potential allergic reactions.
