PROVIDENCE – Employees, customers, and community members of The Washington Trust Co. joined forces last month to support the annual Children’s Book Drive organized by United Way of Rhode Island Inc. and Books Are Wings.
Throughout May, all Washington Trust branches served as collection sites. Together, they gathered more than 2,000 books for children in need. The donated books were then delivered to United Way’s headquarters in Providence.
On June 7, Washington Trust volunteers joined over 100 community members for United Way’s annual Day of Action.
Volunteers helped sort and prepare more than 35,000 books for distribution to children across the state. The effort supports early literacy and expands educational opportunities through the Books Are Wings program.
This year marked the 13th edition of the Children’s Book Drive.
