WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a warning for parents and caregivers to immediately stop using FRJINIE braided crib bumpers. These products pose a serious risk of suffocation, which can cause injury or death to infants.
Padded crib bumpers, including these braided designs, are banned under the Safe Sleep for Babies Act because they can block an infant’s breathing.
The CPSC has issued a Notice of Violation to the seller, Shenzhenshi Jiahedingkejiyouxiangongsi of China, operating under the brand name FRJINIE. The company has not agreed to recall the crib bumpers or offer consumers a remedy.
Approximately 250 crib bumpers were sold online through Amazon between January and April 2025. Prices ranged from $25 to $77. The bumpers are beige, braided, and made of plush cotton, measuring about 80 inches long. The product may also come in other colors and sizes and has been sold by various third-party sellers on different websites. The crib bumpers do not have any labels or markings.
Consumers are advised to stop using the crib bumpers immediately. The CPSC recommends undoing the braid, cutting the strands, and disposing of the bumpers safely. Consumers should not sell or give them away.
The CPSC reminds parents and caregivers of the following safe sleep guidelines:
- Infants should sleep on a firm, flat surface such as a crib, bassinet, or play yard.
- Use only a fitted sheet and avoid adding blankets, pillows, padded bumpers, or other items to the infant’s sleep area.
- Always place infants to sleep on their backs.
- If an infant falls asleep in an inclined or upright position, move them to a safe sleep surface promptly.
Any incidents of injury or product defects related to crib bumpers should be reported to the CPSC at www.SaferProducts.gov.
