Cold and Flu Medicine Recalled Due to Child Poisoning Risk

by daisy

More than 14,000 packs of cold and flu medicine have been recalled in the United States because they could pose a poisoning risk to children.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall on Thursday. It affects Safetussin Max Strength Multi-Symptom Cough, Cold and Flu tablets sold in blister packs. The packaging does not meet the standards of the Poison Prevention Packaging Act, which requires child-resistant packaging. The tablets can be pushed through the foil, making it easier for children to access and swallow them. This could lead to poisoning.

The CPSC said about 14,250 packs are included in the recall. So far, no injuries or incidents have been reported.
