Ottawa, May 9 — The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has announced an active recall on Organic Traditions Jumbo Pumpkin Seeds due to potential Salmonella contamination.
The affected pumpkin seeds were sold in 227-gram packages, with UPC code “6 27733 00175 5” and printed codes “L250212160” or “L250319170.” Also included in the recall are 454-gram packages with UPC code “6 27733 00180 9” and printed code “L250319171.”
Consumers who have purchased these products are advised to check the packaging. If it matches the recall details, they should dispose of the seeds or return them to the store for a potential refund.
While no illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall, Salmonella infection can be severe, particularly for young children, seniors, pregnant women, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Symptoms include fever, stomach cramps, and diarrhea, which may develop up to six days after exposure.
