If your child has outgrown their car seat, or you’re using an expired model, Target is offering a deal that lets you save on a new one.
Through May 10, shoppers can trade in old car seats at Target stores for a 20% off Target Circle Bonus. To participate, simply drop off your used car seat in a designated box and scan the QR code to apply the discount to your Target Circle account. Those who don’t have the app must download it and sign up for Target Circle.
Target accepts all car seats, including expired or damaged models, and the discount is valid for two purchases until May 27, 2025. The discount can be used on new car seats, booster seats, strollers, and select baby gear.
The company recycles old car seats into materials for construction products and storage pieces in its Brightroom collection. Target claims to have recycled over 3 million car seats, keeping 49 million pounds of waste out of landfills.
Car seats expire after 6 to 10 years, and reusing an expired seat is unsafe. The 20% discount may not seem large, but it offers significant savings on new car seats, especially when combined with other sales.
Target’s car seat trade-in event is similar to programs offered by other companies like Hydro Flask, Best Buy, and Walmart, which also run trade-in or recycling programs for various products.
