NC Consignment Store Offers Affordable Solution for Families Amid Rising Costs

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) — As the cost of raising children continues to climb, parents are increasingly turning to secondhand shopping for savings, especially when it comes to baby gear.

Little Oak Collective, a children’s boutique consignment store with locations in Raleigh and Wake Forest, is providing a budget-friendly alternative. The store offers a curated selection of secondhand clothing, toys, books, and gear for children from newborns to around 10 or 12 years old.

Owner Cheyenne Levinson explained that the store’s offerings are particularly valuable as the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association reports that 90% of baby products could be impacted by tariffs. As a result, major brands like Uppababy, Nuna, and Munchkin have already warned customers about potential price hikes.

With families looking to cut costs, shopping secondhand has become an attractive option. Levinson said the store is constantly receiving new inventory, making it a crucial resource for both families and the broader community.

“I think shopping secondhand is important no matter what—tariffs or not,” Levinson said. “It’s an incredibly sustainable choice that will benefit the environment for future generations. Plus, it allows us to offer items at a more accessible price point.”

Although the Trump administration is considering tariff exemptions for baby gear, including car seats, cribs, and strollers, Little Oak Collective continues to focus on providing affordable alternatives. The store is also preparing to open a third location in Cary.
