KINGSPORT — Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee will host a special baby item distribution event this Saturday, May 18, at its Kingsport location.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Second Harvest warehouse, located at 1020 Jericho Drive. Families in need can receive baby essentials including diapers, wipes, formula, and toddler food. Supplies will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis, and some items—especially specific formula types—may be limited.
In addition to baby items, food boxes will also be available for families participating in the event, according to the organization’s announcement.
To pick up supplies, participants should park in the front lot and enter through the covered garage entrance located to the right of the main lobby.
“We are pleased to offer these necessary baby items to the families in our region,” said Rhonda Chafin, executive director of Second Harvest. “Especially during times of high prices like we are experiencing now. We are proud to be neighbors helping our neighbors.”
According to the 2025 Map the Meal Gap study, one in five children in Northeast Tennessee face food insecurity. The food bank aims to ease that burden where possible.
“If there is a way for us to assist our region’s families, we want to do all that we can to help them make their available dollars spread farther,” Chafin added.
No phone calls or reservations will be accepted in advance for this event.
