Target has issued a recall of one of its store-brand baby food products after elevated levels of lead were detected, according to a recent update from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The product was classified under a Class II recall, meaning that use of the product may cause temporary or medically reversible health effects, although the risk of serious harm is considered low.
Which Product Is Affected?
The recall involves Good & Gather brand baby food in the flavor Pea, Zucchini, Kale & Thyme Vegetable Purée. The recalled items come in 4-ounce tubs and carry the UPC 1 91907-99314 1. Only products with lot codes 4167 or 4169 and best by dates of December 7, 2025, or December 9, 2025 are included in the recall.
What Prompted the Recall?
Tests revealed that the affected baby food may contain elevated levels of lead, a toxic heavy metal that can be particularly harmful to infants and young children. Exposure to lead can affect development and behavior, even at low levels.
What Should Consumers Do?
Customers who have purchased the recalled baby food are advised to stop using it immediately and return it to any Target store for a full refund.
For additional information, consumers can contact Target Guest Relations at 1-800-440-0680.
Has the Product Been Removed from Shelves?
Target confirmed to USA Today that all affected products have been removed from store shelves. However, consumers may still have the product at home.
This recall serves as a reminder for parents and caregivers to check product labels carefully and stay informed through official recall announcements.
