LONDON — Aldi has committed to freezing the price of its Mamia First Infant Formula at £6.99 for the rest of 2025, offering families continued savings on baby essentials.
The move means parents shopping at Aldi will save £5 on average compared to other retailers, where the cost of formula remains near historic highs. Data from First Steps Nutrition Trust reveals that some formulas now cost up to £18, nearly three times the price of Aldi’s Mamia formula.
Aldi’s decision to keep prices low comes ahead of the UK government’s anticipated response to the Competition and Markets Authority’s report on the baby formula market, which was delayed by more than a week.
Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, emphasized the supermarket’s commitment to affordability, saying: “As the UK’s cheapest supermarket, we’re committed to keeping prices low on products our customers rely on most. We want to reassure parents that at Aldi, there will be no unwelcome surprises at the checkout.”
Aldi’s price freeze is part of its broader strategy to support families during challenging times. Earlier this year, the supermarket launched its Mamia New Parent Fund, providing £100 Aldi vouchers every week to parents for the next year. The initiative is aimed at helping with the cost of everyday items after the arrival of a new baby. Parents can apply by submitting a receipt for Mamia nappy purchases to the fund.
The Mamia First Infant Formula has been a key product in Aldi’s affordable offering, providing high-quality nutrition at a competitive price. UK regulations ensure that all infant formula meets babies’ nutritional needs, regardless of the price, ensuring families don’t have to overspend to get quality nutrition.
