A Utah-based bagel company, New Grains Gluten Free Bakery, has issued a recall for several of its gluten-free products due to the undeclared presence of eggs, posing a significant health risk to those with egg allergies.
The recall affects four varieties of bagels — cinnamon raisin, plain, blueberry, and multigrain — as well as artisan white bread, multigrain bread, sourdough, and cinnamon raisin bread. These products were recalled after the FDA discovered the labeling issue, which could lead to life-threatening allergic reactions for consumers with egg allergies.
Approximately 100 units of each affected bagel variety, as well as 250 units of each type of bread, were distributed to retail locations in Utah between April 4 and 21. The products were packaged in clear, vacuum-sealed plastic bags under lot numbers 90-107.
While no illnesses or injuries have been reported, the recall is classified as Class I, the highest level of risk. Consumers who have purchased the affected products are advised not to consume them.
The recall is limited to products distributed in Utah, but those with egg allergies should remain cautious. For more information or to return affected products, consumers should contact New Grains Gluten Free Bakery.
