Kelly Ripa is crediting Botox for solving a long-standing dental problem that was affecting her sleep and daily comfort.
On the June 5 episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, the 54-year-old TV host revealed she used to suffer from nighttime teeth grinding—until her dentist suggested an unexpected solution: Botox injections in her jaw.
“I was a real teeth clencher,” Ripa shared, joking, “I clench my teeth because I don’t want what I’m thinking to come spilling out of my mouth.” She said the Botox “changed my life.”
Her husband and co-host, Mark Consuelos, chimed in, noting that teeth grinding—also known as bruxism—can lead to tooth damage, jaw pain, and muscle strain. He blamed causes like stress, caffeine, and even “annoying husbands.”
Ripa explained that before getting Botox, she wore multiple dental appliances at night, including upper and lower retainers. Now, thanks to the treatment, she no longer needs as many night-time tools.
Botox is increasingly being used to treat bruxism, with studies showing it can reduce pain and muscle tension by relaxing the jaw muscles.
Ripa, who has been open about using Botox in the past for sweating, neck aging, and frown lines, added: “I know about Botox.”
