Firehook of Virginia has issued a recall for its Artisan Baked Classic Sea Salt Crackers due to mislabeling that failed to disclose the presence of sesame, a known allergen. The recall was announced on May 30.
The affected crackers were distributed in 11 states: Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Virginia.
According to the company, people with a sesame allergy or severe sensitivity risk serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume the mislabeled product. So far, no illnesses have been reported.
The labeling issue was caused by a temporary breakdown in Firehook’s production and packaging processes, which led to incorrect labels being applied.
The recalled crackers are packaged in clear 8-ounce bags with UPC code 8 99055 00063 5 and a best-by date of September 29, 2025.
Customers who purchased the product are advised to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
This recall adds to a growing list of product recalls in Connecticut, which recently included Zicam nasal swabs, Orajel baby teething swabs, certain deli items containing cucumbers, and Ford vehicles.
