Medtech Products has voluntarily recalled five lots of its Little Remedies Honey Cough Syrup due to potential contamination with Bacillus cereus bacteria and loss of shelf stability, according to a June 18 announcement by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The recalled product was distributed nationwide between December 14, 2022, and June 4, 2025.
Bacillus cereus can cause two types of foodborne illness linked to gastrointestinal symptoms. The first illness typically occurs 1 to 6 hours after ingestion and includes nausea, vomiting, and stomach cramps. The second illness usually appears 8 to 16 hours after consumption and involves stomach cramps and diarrhea.
“While healthy individuals may experience only short-term illness, exposure to high levels of B. cereus can be fatal,” the FDA announcement warned.
