Iceland Recalls Bakery Rolls Over Allergy Risk Due to Mislabeling

by daisy

LONDON, May 30 — Iceland Foods has issued a recall for its Daily Bakery 4 Sub Rolls after the Food Standards Agency (FSA) warned that the product may contain undeclared barley, posing a risk to individuals with gluten allergies or intolerances.

The recall applies to packs with a “best before” date of June 2, 2025. Barley, which contains gluten, was not listed on the packaging. This oversight could endanger people with coeliac disease or gluten sensitivity.

In a statement released Wednesday evening, the FSA confirmed that Iceland has contacted allergy support organisations to alert members about the issue.

“All Iceland retail stores will display point-of-sale notices explaining the reason for the recall and advising customers on what to do,” the agency said.

Customers who have purchased the affected product are advised not to eat it. Instead, they should return it to any Iceland store for a full refund. A receipt is not required.

The recall is part of the FSA’s ongoing allergy alert initiative. The agency explained that food items may be withdrawn or recalled when allergy information is missing or incorrect, or when other allergy risks are identified.

“When there is a food allergy risk, the FSA will issue an Allergy Alert,” the agency said.
