ROCKFORD, Ill. — Senator Steve Stadelman joined volunteers from The Baby Bank on Monday, June 9, to distribute essential baby items, including diapers and hygiene products, at the Brooke Road Community Center. The event, which ran from noon to 1 p.m., drew a long line of families in need of these crucial supplies.
“It shows you how great of a need there is for helping people buy diapers,” Stadelman said, reflecting on the turnout.
In addition to volunteering at the event, Stadelman recently awarded $5,000 in state funding to The Baby Bank to help support its operations.
The Baby Bank, founded in 2018 by Anna Pivoras in her Belvidere home, has since expanded to Rockford and supplies baby products to local food pantries, Remedies Renewing Lives, and the Rockford Family Peace Center. Since its inception, the organization has distributed more than 600,000 diapers to local families in need.
