CHARLOTTE, N.C., May 26 — Harris Teeter has issued a recall of its store-made sushi products due to potential Salmonella contamination linked to a nationwide cucumber recall. The sushi items were made using cucumbers supplied by Bedner Growers, a company currently involved in an ongoing Salmonella outbreak.
So far, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled sushi, according to Harris Teeter. However, out of an abundance of caution, the retailer has pulled the affected products from its shelves.
What Products Are Recalled?
The recall includes a wide range of sushi items such as:
- California Roll
- Avocado Salad Roll
- Spicy Tuna Roll
- Salmon Avocado Roll
- Cream Cheese Roll
- Vegetable Roll
- Ultimate Chili Roll – Salmon
- Spicy California Roll
- Field Goal Platter
A full list of recalled items and their UPC codes is available on the Harris Teeter website.
What Should Consumers Do?
Customers are urged to check their refrigerators for any store-made sushi purchased from Harris Teeter. If you have any of the recalled items, do not eat them. Dispose of the products by wrapping them securely and placing them in a sealed trash bin, or return them to the store for a full refund.
Salmonella Warning
Salmonella can cause serious illness, especially in young children, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms typically include diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps. Anyone who has eaten the recalled products and develops symptoms should contact a healthcare provider.
