Turkana Food Inc., based in Kenilworth, New Jersey, has issued a recall for 352 cases of its Floria Dried Apricots due to undeclared sulfites on the product label. The presence of sulfites, which were not disclosed on the packaging, could pose serious or life-threatening risks to individuals with sulfite allergies or sensitivities.
The issue was discovered during routine testing by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets. The company has stopped production and distribution of the product while it works with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to investigate and resolve the problem with the manufacturer.
The recalled apricots were distributed to stores across multiple states, including Florida, Kentucky, Virginia, New York, New Jersey, Tennessee, Massachusetts, Texas, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Maryland, Ohio, Alabama, Missouri, and California.

Consumers with sulfite allergies or sensitivities should not eat the apricots. They are encouraged to return the product to the store where it was purchased for a full refund.
