A 5-month-old baby girl was rushed to the hospital after two unknown individuals sprayed a fire extinguisher inside a family car in Sippy Downs, Queensland.

The incident occurred around 7:50 p.m. on June 15, when Tiffani Teasdale and her partner were stopped at traffic lights on High Street with their daughter Pixie in the backseat. According to Queensland Police, two people on e-scooters approached their silver Suzuki Vitara and discharged the fire extinguisher through the window.

The car quickly filled with white powder, covering Pixie, who appeared shocked and did not cry, said Teasdale. Both the baby and her father sustained minor injuries and were treated at the hospital overnight. Doctors administered saline solution to Pixie’s eyes. Though discharged early the next morning, Pixie still shows symptoms such as redness, swollen eyes, and mild wheezing, requiring ongoing monitoring.

Teasdale shared footage of the damaged car interior and baby items on a local Facebook community board, condemning the attack and appealing for witnesses.

Queensland police located the used fire extinguisher nearby on Stringybark Road and are investigating. They urge anyone with information or dashcam footage from the area between 7:30 p.m. and 8:20 p.m. to contact them.

A local car detailing business has offered to clean the family’s vehicle free of charge.
