GOOSE CREEK, S.C. – Up to 250 new and expectant mothers are invited to attend the largest community baby shower, set for Saturday, June 7, in Goose Creek. The event is being hosted by Molina Healthcare of South Carolina in partnership with Healing Hurts Ministries.
Taking place at New Life Christian Fellowship on Liberty Hall Road from 10 a.m. to noon, the event will provide attendees with free baby supplies, including clothing, diapers, and wipes.
Guests will also have the chance to win essential baby gear like cribs, car seats, and strollers. Food and games will be available throughout the morning.
The goal, organizers say, is to ease the financial strain on families as the cost of infant care continues to rise. According to the National Diaper Bank Network, one in two U.S. families struggles to afford enough diapers to keep their children clean and healthy. Nearly 30% of families surveyed said they’ve skipped meals to afford diapers, which can cost more than $1,000 a year.
Local agencies will be on-site to offer postpartum information, and SC Thrive will assist with Medicaid applications and renewals.
The event is free and open to the public. Members of the media are also welcome to attend.
