Poppi, the popular prebiotic soda brand favored by celebrities, has announced a major update—not a new flavor, but a complete overhaul of one of its least popular ones.
The company revealed that its Root Beer soda has been reformulated and repackaged following years of customer criticism. The revamped version is already appearing on store shelves across the United States.
“We heard you loud and clear—you wanted us to level up our Root Beer, so that’s exactly what we did,” Poppi shared in a recent Instagram post. “Allow us to reintroduce you to our brand new and improved Root Beer! We gave it a fresh new look and a bold new flavor, and we can’t wait to hear what you think!”
Originally launched in 2021 alongside Poppi’s Classic Cola and Doc Pop flavors, the Root Beer variety quickly became one of the brand’s least favored offerings. It drew widespread criticism on social media, where users mocked both the taste and the design of the can.
One user on X wrote, “Poppi root beer tastes like A1 sauce and coins, disgusting,” while another said, “The Orange and Grape Poppi changed my life…the root beer one made me question everything.” Another post compared the old can design to a “Madagascar hissing cockroach.”
Despite some loyal fans defending the original formula, the majority welcomed the change. “Props to y’all for taking feedback and nailing the new iteration. So many brands can learn from you!” one commenter said. Another added, “The old root beer was not it, but this is.”
The updated Root Beer stays true to Poppi’s signature ingredient list, which includes sparkling water, apple cider vinegar, and organic cane sugar. The new formula also features cassava root fiber, apple juice concentrate, agave, and stevia for sweetness.
The reformulated Root Beer is now available for purchase on Poppi’s website and is gradually being stocked in retail stores nationwide.
