Fat Brain Toys has issued a recall for its PlayTab Rollers Tile toys due to a serious safety concern involving small, powerful magnets. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall on May 15, 2025.
The toys do not meet federal safety standards for magnets in children’s products. The magnets inside the rollers can come loose, posing a risk of severe injury if swallowed.
What Products Are Affected?
The recall involves around 5,100 units sold in the U.S. and about 380 in Canada. Affected products include:
- PlayTab Rollers Tile (sold individually)
- PlayTab Sensory Set 3 (includes the rollers tile)
These toys were sold between July 2024 and November 2024. They feature blue, red, and green rubber rollers meant for young children to touch and spin.
Why Are Magnets Dangerous?
Though small and seemingly harmless, loose magnets can be life-threatening if swallowed. Ingesting more than one magnet can cause them to attract each other inside the body, leading to:
- Intestinal blockages or twisting
- Internal perforations
- Blood infections
- In rare cases, death
No Injuries Reported—But Immediate Action Urged
While no injuries have been reported so far, Fat Brain Toys and the CPSC urge families to stop using the toys immediately due to the serious risks.
What Should Families Do?
If you own the recalled toys:
- Stop using them right away.
- Contact Fat Brain Toys for disposal instructions.
- You can choose between a $10 credit for use at fatbraintoys.com or receive a replacement PlayTab tile.
Fat Brain Toys is notifying all known buyers directly. For assistance, contact them by phone at 800-590-5987 (8 a.m.–5 p.m. CT, Monday to Friday), email at [email protected], or visit their website.
A Reminder on Magnet Safety
